Dr. Craig Wiernik is an Assistant Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice at West Virginia Wesleyan College, where he teaches courses in criminology, research methods, corrections, sociology, and prison education. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from The Pennsylvania State University, specializing in religion, social trust, and criminal justice. His research interests include prison education, criminology and criminal justice, religion, civic engagement, sociology of the family, and the experiences of incarcerated individuals and their families, including children of the incarcerated. Dr. Wiernik has published peer-reviewed research in journals including the Journal of Religion and Society, Crime and Delinquency, and the Journal of Quantitative Criminology. In addition to his scholarship, he is actively involved in mentoring students, developing prison education initiatives, and securing grant funding for research and community-engaged programs.
